Notes on my desktop PC (devo)

Current specs: dual PII-350 CPUs, 768MB RAM, 460GB disk, dual 15" flat panels (same area as a 25" screen, but a quarter the price), CD/DVD (re)writer, 5 speakers+sub, redundant cablemodem and ADSL connections, running Debian GNU/Linux. It rocks for a machine that's several years old and didn't cost very much.

20 Dec 2004: Linksys WRT54G wireless router ($90 CAD+tax after $15 mail-in rebate)
5 Nov 2004: 200G more disk (WD 7200rpm ATA100 8MB), $140 CAD+tax = $161 at deals direct
22 Aug 2004: HP PSC 2410 Multifunction printer/scanner/copier/fax, $345 CAD+tax at best buy; related: linux support
7 June 2004: 200G more disk (Maxtor 6Y200P0), $189 CAD+tax = $217 at deals direct
8 Sep 2003: Pioneer DVR-106D DVD-R/RW DVD+R/RW CD-R/RW writer, $395 CAD+tax incl 50 1x Optodisc DVD-R's and 25 4x Optodisc DVD-R's (from dealsdirect)
6 Sep 2003: 256M more RAM (768M total) donated by a friend
23 Feb 2003: 120GB more disk (Maxtor 6Y120L0 DiamondMax Plus 9, 2MB cache, 7200RPM, $215 CAD+tax at deals direct
3 Dec 2002: CyberPower 373SL UPS, using powstatd with the serial interface to monitor it
28 Oct 2002: two 15" NEC 1545V flat panel displays
1 June 2001: 256M more RAM

22 Jan 2000: Cambridge Soundworks speakers (5-speaker surround+subwoofer)
