notes on text indexing software, mainly for my own use (in e.g. HURL):

• Namazu sounds pretty good
• mnoGoSearch (formedly UdmSearch) sounds good too
• Isearch/Isite from CNIDR:
  • doesn't seem to be maintained by CNIDR any more; 404s abound on their web site.
  • Isearch is still on CNIDR's FTP site, but awcubed.com seems to have a more recent version on their FTP server?
  • webtechniques article: Searching With Isearch
  • RootsWeb Mailing List Search reportedly uses Isearch, but details are sketchy
  • isite-l mailing list archives are active as of Feb 2001
• xyleme
• lq-text: builds inverted index, fast, mature, no structured searching
• searchtools.com has lots of related info, listings, comparisons
• Comparing Open Source Indexers: good comparison of the features/history of popular open source indexers
