I went on a backcountry ski touring trip based at the Bill Putnam (Fairy Meadows) Hut near Golden, BC, from Jan 5-12, 2008. This was my first time ski touring (in fact my first time on skis in 7 years, except for a 2-day avalanche awareness course I took last month.)
On the first day we weren't able to fly in to the hut due to weather, so we did a half-day at Kicking Horse Resort in Golden. The next day the weather cleared up and we were off to the hut.
Skiing at night without lights can be dangerous; fortunately Stephen brought some fireworks and we used them to illuminate the slopes. Safety first!
