Notes on message board software

• OpenTopic: sample (unofficial Disney site)
• Discus: "a free WWW discussion board software package that can be installed on a unix, Windows 95/98, or Windows NT web server."
• Ultimate Bulletin Board (sample)
• ezboard: "provides a Web-based application service that engages businesses and individuals to build, join and participate in customized and personalized online communities."
• phorum: opensource, PHP, actively developed
• vBulletin: very nice, has community/moderation features; PHP/MySQL; commercial, but presumably comes with source
• Ikonboard seems similar to vBulletin in terms of features/UI; don't know much about it because the site is mostly 404s right now.
