Ted, Gerald and all...

what do you make of this?

shoal:~# iwconfig eth1 mode ad-hoc essid OPKS8444 nick shoal
shoal:~# iwconfig eth1
eth1      IEEE 802.11-DS  ESSID:"non-specified SSID !!"
Nickname:"shoal"
         Mode:Ad-Hoc  Frequency:2.422GHz  Cell: 00:00:00:00:00:00
         Bit Rate:2Mb/s   Tx-Power=15 dBm   Sensitivity:1/3
         Retry limit:4   RTS thr:off   Fragment thr:off
         Encryption key:off
         Power Management:off
         Link Quality:0  Signal level:0  Noise level:0
         Rx invalid nwid:0  invalid crypt:0  invalid misc:0

Why won't the essid stick?

I'm afraid it has something to do with IRQ roulette...
the orinoco_cs driver is grabbing IRQ9, which sort
of a wierd IRQ, I think (shared with IRQ2 or something...).

Crud... why didn't I archive the contents of /proc/interrupts
last time it was working?

wireless at home again, at last!
