I was trying to find some teleconferencing software and didn't have much
luck.
Not only every program has its own protocol, but I haven't found a
cross-platform implementation. It seems that CUSeeMe was the only one
which was working on several platforms (including Linux), but it
apparently died.
There are a few programs for Linux[1] though, but I haven't tried them
out yet, and they won't communicate with Windows anyway.
I also found something else which seems to be cool: free phone calls. I
found two sites (there are probably others): PhoneFree.com[2] and
Dialpad.com[3] (it seems that people like putting ".com" in company
names nowadays). Of course, this only works on PC with Windows. Since I
don't want to use Windows (even to save money), my next mission is to
make them work with Wine. And also understand how they can provide such
a service for free.
