Last night while heading to play pool at MacLaren's with Daniel
(in town for http://www.ottawalinuxsymposium.org/2000/ ), we met
up with a few GNOME hackers on the way, and they came along.
It was pretty fun.

They were:

David Mason (manager, Redhat labs, http://www.labs.redhat.com/ )

Michael Meeks (works for HelixCode, http://www.helixcode.com/ )
   home: http://www.gnome.org/~michael/
   interview: http://www.linuxpower.org/display.php?id=178

George Lebl (Eazel, http://www.eazel.com/ )
   http://www.advogato.org/person/vicious/
(Eazel is my current "top place I'd want to work if I wanted
   to work somewhere else.")

Daniel Veillard (W3C, rpmfind, libxml, GNOME):

We had a drink with another guy earlier, but I didn't catch his
name.

I just surfed around GNOME and Advogato a bit, and these guys are
doing some amazing work with GNOME and Linux in general. I have
no doubt whatsoever that Linux will conquer the desktop market
within 3-5 years, maybe as soon as 2 years.

I actually hope Microsoft doesn't get busted up by the government,
so Linux can take over just by virtue of being better.

It was cool to be able to meet these guys... I might try to meet
up with some of them again tonight. (and maybe crash the symposium
for a while today.)
