I met Tristen's family backpacking at Joffre Lakes on Labor Day weekend, 2006. It took just under two hours to hike up to the campsites at Upper Joffre Lake.

Before hiking back down on Monday, Tristen and I did a four-hour scramble up and past the moraine next to Matier Glacier, a pretty easy hike except for sketchy terrain most of the way. We considered continuing up to Joffre Peak but base camp was getting antsy to leave. Photos:
